Suggested Reading

Dear Friends:

All right, I’m no Oprah Winfrey. So I won’t be starting any national best selling book clubs. However, I do love to read. And whenever I am really feeling a book I like to share my literary experience with others. That said…

Here is a book that, I feel, is absolutely splendorous!

“The Selfish Gene” by Richard Dawkins is a wonderful read. If you are an evolutionist, like myself, you will LOVE it. If you aren’t versed in evolution by natural selection you’ll still love it. Dawkins takes the reader through the beginnings of the universe (The Big Bang Theory) all the way up to mankind’s ascension to the moon, and how it all ties into our genes…

Now, I’ll preface by stating that this book is a enlightening read for ANYONE of ANY persuasion. If you’re religious it isn’t meant to infringe upon your faith insofar as it will give you a different perspective. What I love about it is that its not immersed in technical jargon. If you’re not into science you can follow along. Dawkins tells the story of the evolution of genes as though it were an actual tale.

I love this book. I finished it in under two weeks.

  1. Somehow, I can’t bring myself to read Dawkin’s writings, even though I’ve heard nothing but good things about them. Maybe he’s too militant for me. Stephen Jay Gould was more my style.
